MANDARIN RESTAURANT
ROGERS CHINESE LANTERN FESTIVAL CONTEST
FULL RULES AND REGULATIONS

NO PURCHASE REQUIRED. TO ENTER, commencing on July 14, 2008 until October 5, 2008 (“Contest Period”) each dining room or take-out/delivery customer over the age of majority at any Mandarin Restaurant will receive a ballot, while supplies last. Fully complete that ballot and deposit it in the ballot box in the restaurant or completely fill in an online ballot including the unique PIN # provided on your receipt at www.mandarinbuffet.com before closing at 9:30pm EST on October 5, 2008. To enter without a purchase, hand-print a 100-word essay about why you love eating at the Mandarin restaurants. Essays must be original and cannot be mechanically reproduced. Include the essay along with the location of your favourite Mandarin restaurant (for a complete listing, visit www.mandarinbuffet.com ), or in the alternative to a Mandarin restaurant location reference the website, your name, address, postal code, and phone number and mail it in an envelope with sufficient postage to: Mandarin Restaurant Franchise Corporation, 8 Clipper Court, Brampton, Ontario L6W 4T9 Attention: WIN A TRIP FOR 2 CONTEST. Limit one entry per person per day. All mail-in entries must be post-marked by October 5, 2008. Mandarin Restaurant Franchise Corporation (the “Sponsor”) and its franchisees will not be responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, postage-due, destroyed or wrongly addressed entries.
- GRAND PRIZE AND RUNNER UP PRIZES There will be three Grand Prizes awarded, consisting of one trip for two (2) to Beijing, China, one trip for two (2) to Cairo, Egypt, and one trip for two (2) to Rome, Italy. Each Grand Prize trip for 2 includes: return economy airfare transportation from Toronto Pearson International Airport and four star accommodations for 6 nights based on double occupancy at a hotel to be selected by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Winners will be responsible for the cost of everything not specified above, including without limitation, transportation to and from departure airport, all travel related taxes, fees and surcharges, tips, all meals, beverages (alcoholic or otherwise), ground transportation, long-distance charges, travel and medical insurance and other expenses of a personal nature. Approximate average retail value of each prize is $4,730. All necessary travel documents, including passports and visas (if applicable) are the responsibility of each traveler. Trip is subject to any travel advisories that may be issued by Canadian Consular Affairs Bureau.
Travel arrangements may only be made through the Sponsor or its agents, travel on a particular date is subject to availability and travel may only take place during the dates set out below. Other black out periods may apply. Transport and accommodation subject to blackout periods, availability, regulations and other restrictions, 45 days notice must be provided to the Sponsor of the date the winner wishes to take their trip, and once booked the trip dates cannot be changed. Departure to Cairo, Egypt and Rome, Italy must take place between October 1, 2008 to November 30, 2008 or January 1, 2009 to April 30, 2009. Departure to Beijing, China must take place between November 1, 2008 to December 15, 2008 or January 1, 2009 to May 31, 2009.
If a winner is unable to attend (for whatever reason) within the dates specified by Sponsor, then that winner shall forfeit all rights to the Grand Prize and shall not receive anything (including but not limited to any cash equivalent) to compensate for such forfeiture. Winner cannot extend or revise trip schedule.
RUNNER UP PRIZES The first Runner Up Prize consists of buffet dinner for 10 at any participating Mandarin restaurant in Ontario. Prize also includes 10 Toronto Star Play All Day Passes® (valid during the 2009 summer operating season) to Ontario Place. Total approximate retail value of the prize is $575. Dinner portion of the prize excludes alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and gratuities and must be used by March 31, 2009 (excludes holiday promotion periods as stated on winner’s certificate).
The Second Runner Up Prize consists of buffet dinner for 6 at any participating Mandarin restaurant in Ontario. Prize also includes 6 Toronto Star Play All Day Passes® (valid during the 2009 summer operating season) to Ontario Place. Total approximate retail value of the prize is $345. Dinner portion of the prize excludes alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and gratuities and must be used by March 31, 2009 (excludes holiday promotion periods as stated on winner’s certificate).
The Third Runner Up Prize consists of buffet dinner for 4 at any participating Mandarin restaurant in Ontario. Prize also includes 4 Toronto Star Play All Day Passes® (valid during the 2009 summer operating season) to Ontario Place. Total approximate retail value of the prize is $230. Dinner portion of the prize excludes alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and gratuities and must be used by March 31, 2009 (excludes holiday promotion periods as stated on winner’s certificate).
SEMI-FINALIST PRIZES Every 2 weeks during the Contest Period, there will be one semi-finalist prize offered at each Mandarin restaurant location and online consisting of an invitation for two to a party at The Garden Banquet & Convention Centre on October 22, 2008 (“Semi-Finalist Party”). Gratuities and beverages are included. Approx. retail value of the prize is $200. Maximum one Semi-Finalist prize per person.
All prizes must be accepted as awarded. No transfer, assignment, cash redemption, or substitution of a prize (or portion thereof), except by Sponsor in its sole discretion. The Sponsor reserves the right at any time to substitute a prize for any reason so long as a prize of comparable value is substituted.

On or about restaurant closing on July 27, August 10, August 24, September 7, September 21, October 5, 2008 a random draw will be held for one Semi-Finalist prize at each Mandarin restaurant location, and at Mandarin head office on the following day at 10 am EST from all entries received at www.mandarinbuffet.com up to 9:30pm EST on the draw closing date, from all eligible entries received during the previous two weeks. Mail-in entries will be allocated to the draw for the week in which the entry was received for the restaurant location listed as the entrant’s favourite. In order to win, each selected entrant must first correctly answer a time limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by mail or by telephone. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received at each Mandarin restaurant location or online during that two week period.

On or about October 22, 2008 at the Semi-Finalist Party, random draws will be held for the Runner-Up Prizes in the reverse order listed above, and then for the Grand Prizes (in the reverse order listed above, i.e. first Semi-Finalist drawn is eligible to win the trip to Rome, second Semi-Finalist drawn is eligible to win the trip to Cairo and the third Semi-Finalist drawn is eligible to win the trip to Beijing), from among those Semi-Finalists in attendance at the Party at the time of the draw to award the Grand Prize and the Runner Up Prizes. Limit of one prize awarded at the Semi-Finalist Party per person. Odds of being selected as a Secondary Prize winner will depend on the number of Semi-Finalists in attendance but are no less than 1 in 40. The odds of being selected as a Grand Prize winner will depend on the number of Semi-Finalists in attendance but are no less than 1 in 39. In order to win any prize in this Contest, each selected entrant must first correctly answer a time limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by mail or by telephone. Semi-Finalists must be in attendance at the Party in order to be included in the prize draws.

The contest is open to all residents of Ontario, who have reached the age of 18, except employees of the Sponsor, its franchisees or their advertising and promotional agencies, and all persons with whom they are domiciled. The guest of each Grand Prize winner must be over the age of majority in their province of residence.

All decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding. This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.

All entries become the property of Sponsor, and no correspondence will be entered into except with selected entrants who will be notified by mail or telephone. Entrants, by entering this contest, consent to the use of their name and/or photograph, without compensation, in any future publicity carried out by Sponsor in connection with this contest. Each winner and his/her guest must sign and return a consent and release form releasing the Sponsor and its franchisees from all liability relating to the contest or the prize.

By entering this contest you consent to Sponsor, its promotional agencies and contest judges storing and using the personal information you submitted with your entry for the purpose of administering the contest and for marketing purposes which may include receiving promotional messages from time to time, unless you expressly request not to be contacted for such purposes.

Without limitation, the Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies and the contest judges will not be liable for any failure of the web site during the contest; for any technical malfunction or other problems relating to the telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software; for the failure of any entry to be received by the Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies or the contest judges for any reason including, but not limited to, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site; or any combination of the above. Further, the Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies and the contest judges will not be liable for any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading any material in the contest.

The Sponsor reserves the right to withdraw or amend this contest in any way, in the event of an error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this contest as contemplated by these Rules. Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or to undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.

In the event of a dispute, online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the person who is assigned an email address by an internet provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institute, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. If the identity of an online entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder associated with the email account at the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant. A selected entrant may be required to provide proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the selected entry name change. The sole determinant of the time for the purposes of a valid online entry in this contest will be the contest server machine(s).
- The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or suspend this contest in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind without prior notice or obligation.
